Fall Orientation


This orientation is designed to help you learn about important resources that will enhance your experience. At orientation you will meet fellow classmates, advisors, faculty and staff. Orientation is a required part of your program and a $400 non-refundable orientation fee will be added to your myUH account. If you can not attend, please let me know as soon as possible. 

 

 

DATE

Mandatory orientation is scheduled for August 17 and 18, 8:00 am-5:00 pm daily. 

ATTIRE


August 17-The attire is business professional. You will take a professional headshot in the morning. We recommend a blazer or sports coat, in order to have a business professional look for the photo.
August 18-The attire is casual. 

LOCATION
Orientation will be held in The University Clasroom and Business Builing (UCBB). Parking is available in
the East Parking Garage (4733 Calhoun Rd. Houston, TX 77204). Validations will be provided.

After you park in the East Parking garage, walk down University Blvd or through the parking lot towards the University. There will be a 3-story glass, triangle shaped building (Melcher Hall) in front of you, The University Classroom and Business Building (UCBB) is located directly behind it.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR:

  • Birkman Assessment - you will receive an email from our office with instructions on completing this online assessment, which will be extremely beneficial for you during your time in the program and in working with our career coaches, faculty and staff.
  • Career Leader - you will receive an email from career services with instructions on completing this a few days prior to arriving at orientation.
  • Writing Assessment - this is a mandatory component of orientation. You are required to complete this during orientation.
  • Laptop - All students are required to have a laptop. Please be sure to bring a laptop, fully charged, with the following capabilities and functions:
    • Ability to connect to Wi-Fi
    • Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Power Cord
    • Details on your laptop requirement were included on the Academic Advising page
  • Orientation Boot Camps-These sessions are designed to help introduce and refresh skills in Excel and Statistics. These sessions are strongly encouraged, as they will help to build a foundation to be successful in these classes. The sessions will be held August 25 and September 8.
